After a long season in team-sport, the body is usually beaten, battered and bruised. After you get over Mad Monday and have a few weeks off, you might ease your way back into the gym. Couple of sets of squats, maybe a few sets of bench. But it's mostly just 'ticking' the box, right?
Before you know it, it's December, and silly season comes around, so you don't get much done. Between Christmas, New Years and Australia Day, there's a lot of socialising that naturally, gets in the way of your performance (without a plan in place).
Then it's February, and you re-start training team sport training and get flogged -- lots of conditioning, lots of fitness, and just like that, you're back at it again.
That's the reality for most aspiring (and even semi-pro) athletes. Between the body being sore, social commitments, and the reality that team sport athletes have to juggle so many competing physical qualities... most strength and power sessions and most speed sessions or ‘speed blocks’ done in semi-pro and pro environments are the bare minimum needed to scrape by.

After a long-season, the body is fatigued, you're managing niggles, and the nervous system is pretty shot. The first thing we'll do is reset your nervous system, get you motivated for training again, and deal with any niggles or complications you have so you're feeling ready for the work ahead of you. There is no denying that strength and power form the foundation of an athletic body, but improving running mechanics can help the team-sport athlete the most; it’s usually the lowest hanging fruit and will reap the biggest reward. The third phase of Training camp is max speed development. Building on the speed mechanics of phase two, we'll be chasing faster 40m times, higher verticals, and more explosive capability in the gym. This is where we dial you in for the year ahead.
